Jody Sweetnich Dennard, 65, of Rocky Face, Georgia, formerly of Powhatan Point, OH, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014, at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, GA.
Jody was born July 1, 1948, in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Susac) Sweetnich.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas W. Dennard Jr. of Rocky Face; her loving son, Mark Douglas Dennard of Atlanta, GA.; sisters, Barbara (Dan) Schumacher of Woodsfield, OH, Suzanne (Dennis) Hendershot of Powhatan Pt. OH; and a brother, Joseph (Val) Sweetnich of Morgantown, WV.
She is also survived by aunts, Olga McVey of Powhatan Point, OH and Marcy Sweetnich of N. Royalton, OH; an uncle, Daniel (Joan) Sweetnich of Massillon, OH. She also leaves behind several cousins, nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.
Jody graduated from Powhatan High School in 1966 and The Williams West Virginia School of Nursing in 1969. Her first job was with the Oceana Naval Air Station, then with Vanderbilt Hospital, followed by The Gallatin Hospital and then with Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, GA. She worked there for many years and became Surgical Services Educator. She left many loving and caring friends there.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. A friend to all that came to know her and love her. Jody loved to garden, travel, Starbucks Coffee, yard sales and her two puppies.
Family and friends may join in her Celebration of Life memorial by visiting on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 186 Main Street, Powhatan Pt., Ohio, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of memorial service at 1 p.m. with Fr. Samuel Saprano officiating.
