Ruth Frances (Lesnick) Biscan, 87, formerly of Benwood, W.Va., passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Mound View Health Care, Moundsville, W.Va.
Ruth was born October 10, 1926, in Bridgeport, Ohio, a daughter of the late Joseph and Viola (Trybuski) Lesnick.
She was a retired hairdresser for Glemby's Beauty Salon, located in the former Stone & Thomas Department Store, and was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Benwood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Biscan; and her daughter, Marlene Narrish.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Maxine Slokan and her husband Thomas of Moundsville; two brothers, Edward Lesnick and his wife, Mary of St. Clairsville, Ohio and Tom Lesnick and his wife, Rose of Bridgeport, Ohio; a sister, Dorothy Tierney of Martins Ferry, Ohio; a son-in-law, Robert Narrish of Wheeling; four grandchildren, Dr. Tom Slokan and his wife, Dawn of Erie, Pa., April Oliverio and her husband, Dr. Matthew of Morgantown, W.Va., Kevin Narrish of Wheeling, and Erica Narrish and her fiance, Josh Vaughn of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and five great-grandchildren, Isabella and Anthony Oliverio, Katherine Vaughn, Alexis Slokan and Gabriella Narrish.
The family would like to thank the staff at Valley Hospice and Mound View Health Care for the excellent care Ruth received while in their care.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Lutes & Kirby- Vance Chapel, 118 Grant Avenue, Moundsville, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, June 2, 2014, at St. John Catholic Church, Benwood, with the Rev. Bekeh Utietiang as celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wheeling.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Valley Hospice, 10686 State Route 150, Rayland, OH 43943.
