Three people, including a young boy, were injured in a Monday morning shooting at the Heritage Place apartments on Market Street in Steubenville.
One person was flown by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital with serious injuries after being shot multiple times. Two bystanders, a father and his young son, were hit in the leg by stray bullets and were taken to Trinity Medical Center West for treatment, according to Steubenville Police Chief William McCafferty.
McCafferty said police are looking for the shooter, who escaped in a yellow Cavalier with a dark sunroof. He said police have identified a suspect.
The victim who was shot multiple times was able to run back into the apartment building in the upper lot of the apartment complex, McCafferty said. The suspect was outside the vehicle when the shots were fired.
Several law enforcement agencies were assisting in the investigation, including juvenile court probation department, Mingo Junction police, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Jefferson County Sheriff's Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A BCI agent processed the scene and gathered evidence.
