Julian Margaret (Rickus) Hedrick, 78, formerly of Mar-Win, Wheeling, W.Va., passed away in Wheeling on Monday, July 7, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Julian was born October 12, 1935, in Wheeling, the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Margaret (Madden) Rickus.
She was a graduate of Scott's College of Cosmetology, and a member of the Hope United Methodist and Vineyard Churches, Wheeling.
She was a volunteer at Wheeling Hospital for 15 years; enjoyed meeting with her Book Club and Game Day friends; and served as a team member for Lay Witness Missions, traveling over the Tri-State area and touching many lives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlisle Hedrick; a brother, Edward Rickus; a sister-in-law, Rosa Rickus; and a nephew, Albert Rickus.
Julian is survived by her three children, Diana Mey and her husband, Mark of Wheeling, Scott Hedrick and his wife, Becki of Wheeling and Robert Hedrick and his wife, Kristine of Deleware, Ohio; step-mother, Arthela Rickus of Wheeling; half-siblings, Debbie Whitecotton and Ted Rickus of Wheeling, and David Rickus of Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Matthew, Jordan and Nathan Mey, and Hannah, Caleb, Noah and Sarah Hedrick; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Smokey.
Julian's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at Valley Hospice and Liza's Place, for the excellent care that their mother received.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, Elm Grove Chapel, 154 Kruger Street, Wheeling, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 10, 2014, with Revs. Barry Bullman and April Forkey officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
