Class is in session in Marshall County this summer in an effort to reduce high school dropouts.
The program, "Energizing Our Youth," gives high school students an opportunity to explore careers in the energy field. The hope is that students who otherwise may quit school early will discover a career and complete their education.
This type of program shows how public and private entities are working together to make a difference. Noble Energy is spending $300,000 over three years in conjunction with the schools and the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce on the effort.
This program should serve as a model for other counties to reduce the number of high school dropouts. We applaud the work and encourage others to get involved.
