A man was found dead near the railroad tracks just north of Center Street after someone on a passing train noticed the body Tuesday morning.
"We believe that it was a result of natural causes, and we saw nothing suspicious," Martins Ferry Police Chief John McFarland said. "The body was turned over to the Belmont County coroner."
Upon completion of an autopsy, McFarland said that if there is anything suspicious, they will investigate further.
The man's identity was not revealed pending notification of relatives.
