Rosemarie B. Blake Kelly, of Wheeling, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at her home, peacefully reuniting with her husband of 43 years, Charles E. Kelly, Sr.
She was born December 21, 1940 in Wheeling, daughter of the late Samuel H. and Rose M. Kostelecsky Blake of Benwood, WV.
Rosemarie is a graduate of St. Joseph Academy Class of 1958. She was employed at Horne's of Wheeling for 30 years and Wheeling Hospital Volunteer Services for 17 years, was past president of Wheeling Chapter of Credit Professionals International and Pennsylvania State CPI, member of Blake Brothers American Legion Post #46 Auxiliary, The Auxiliary of Wheeling Hospital and the Congregation of Sisters of St. Joseph Auxiliary, a Catholic by faith and a member of St. Joseph Cathedral.
Rosemarie participated in over 35 variety shows, in which (her words) "Could not sing but loved making people laugh." She had a very special gift of giving every person that crossed her path a feeling of importance with genuinely giving kindness. Grandma equally loved, cherished and was proud of both Jesse and Meghan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Martin Joseph Blake; husband, Charles E. Kelly, Sr.; and son, Charles E. Kelly, Jr.
Survivors include; daughter, Shannon Rose Kelly; granddaughter, Meghan Nicole Wiseman; son-in-law, David Wiseman, all of Wheeling; grandson, Jesse James Kelly; and daughter-in- law, Frankie L. Kelly, both of Chandler, AZ, brother and sisters-in-law, Richard (Dick) L. (Sue) Kelly, Roger L. and Virginia (Ginger) Kent, all of Wheeling; very close cousins, Rick J. (Janie) Blake of McMechen, and Robert (Butch) Welsh of Charleston, WV; and her Jack Russell Terrier, Dixie Chaps.
Friends will be received on Monday, August 4, 2014 at the Altmeyer Funeral Home, 1400 Eoff St., from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral with Msgr. Kevin Quirk as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
