A Moundsville man was arrested Sunday for allegedly attacking the mother of his child and slamming a couch on her dog.
Robert Alex West, 25, of 109 Sycamore Ave., Moundsville, is charged with domestic battery and cruelty to animals. He was released on a $4,500 bond.
According to court documents, West and the woman allegedly were arguing over housework Sunday at a Woodland Knolls apartment when West grabbed the woman by the hair and pulled it. West then allegedly grabbed her hand and head-butted the woman.
The complaint states the woman asked West to leave her apartment. He then allegedly tried to take her cellphone and punched her in the head. The woman later reported injuries to her back.
West also was charged for a May 25 incident in which he allegedly chased the woman's dog under a couch, pulled the couch out and slammed it into the animal after the dog knocked over his video game controller. The dog reportedly began to yelp when West then picked the dog up and threw it into a door.
The dog was transported to Animal Urgent Care in South Wheeling, where records show it suffered a broken bone in its right front paw.
A pretrial hearing to West has not been set in Marshall County Magistrate Court.
