Green Acres Club

Reservations will be taken for the Valley Grove community picnic honoring the Valley Grove CEOS Club on its 100th anniversary. Members are asked to turn in a record of their volunteer hours and money donated to the Clean Water Project.
Linda Wade and Karen Cappone will give a council report. Marge Nichols will be responsible for a fundraiser gift. Lyda Cox will serve as health motivator. Co-hostesses Ann Hooper and Judy Nichols will be in charge of meditations and will provide lunch.
Ormet Retirees Club, Local 5724, will meet at the union hall in Clarington at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12. Doughnuts, coffee and prizes will be provided. An update will be given on the status of the former plant.
Lunch With Books
Chad Felt, an English teacher at Linsly School, will be at Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, at noon Tuesday, Aug. 12, to share some of his experiences from his travels in South Africa and books and readings that connect to that experience.
A longtime educator, Felt joined the Linsly faculty in 2011. Recently, he received his second outstanding educator award from the West Virginia Governor's Honors Academy. In 2012, he received a fellowship from the National Endowment of the Humanities for study in South Africa.
Lunch With Books programs are free and open to the public. Patrons may bring a bag lunch; free beverages are served.
Actors portraying various "residents" of Greenwood Cemetery will appear in costume to discuss their lives at the Ohio County Public Library, 52 16th St., Wheeling, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12. A new Greenwood Cemetery display is now featured in the main display case at the library.
The program is free and open to the public. Free beverages will be served.
Baked Steak Dinner
