WHEELING -- Heavy rain overnight and this morning has caused storm drains and creeks to overflow and a number of roads to close.
In Wheeling, National Road near Hardees and CVS was closed this morning, but opened about 9:10 a.m. Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department officials are visiting businesses along National Road to address any health concerns from the water.
Orchard Road and Elm Street in Woodsdale/Leatherwood also were closed but opened by mid-morning. Water was more than a foot deep throughout that area.
Parts of Peters Run Road and Dixon Run Road also were closed earlier Wednesday in Ohio County.
Ohio 7 reopened Wednesday afternoon after culverts were cleared.
A small rock slide on Wheeling Hill has left a mess on the right-hand side of the lanes going up the hill from Fulton.
The National Weather Service also is reporting that Cadiz received more than 4 inches of rain in a six-hour period this morning.
