The Toni Zeakes Performing Arts Centre is about to begin its 60th year of Dance and Tumbling instruction in Wheeling.
To kick off their 60th Anniversary celebration the Centre, located at 2239 Market Street, they will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The public is invited to view the state-of-the-art facility, meet the staff and discuss potential enrollment for the 2014-15 season.
The Centre offers classes in tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, lyrical, hip-hop, acrobatics, cheering, baton and "Diaper Gym," a program especially designed for students 18 months-2 years. The studio offers multiple subject discounts and family discounts.
The Zeakes Arts Centre is the home of Wheeling Rockettes, the Toni Zeakes Dancers who are already busy preparing for the annual Fantasy in Lights parade and a show in December with their partner Ohio Valley Medical Center.
All classes are taught by an all adult, experienced staff. New this year to our staff are Becky DiProsperis and Alex Mitchell Harvey who will be heading up the acrobatics department. Both are former Zeakes Dancers. Becky was a WVU cheerleader and Alex recently returned to the area from teaching The Akron Dance line.
