An Oklahoma man is facing 11 charges associated with an alcohol induced confrontation Saturday with Ohio County sheriff's deputies.
Deputies arrested Jeffrey Odell White, 40, of Chickasha, Okla., after being alerted at 12:01 a.m. to an automobile in a ditch on National Road near the Pennsylvania line.
A criminal complaint states White told officers he went into the ditch when he swerved to miss a deer. Officers stated they could smell alcohol on White, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy and he had slurred speech. Deputies also found a glass container in White's vehicle that contained a leafy substance that tested positive for marijuana.
According to the report, White became loud and used profanity as deputies attempted to conduct field sobriety tests on him. He then declared his was not allowing any further testing. White allegedly continued to be non-compliant and was aggressive and threatening toward officers. He also allegedly struck an officer with his fist.
A State Police report states White has a previous DUI charge and prior conviction for possession of marijuana.
Magistrate Joe Roxby set bond for White at $10,600 on charges of DUI, possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct, two counts of assault on an officer, battery on an officer, destruction of property, refusal to fingerprint and obstructing/resisting an officer.
