Football: Nixon-Led Monroe Blows Out Caldwell
CALDWELL – Curtis Nixon rushed for 107 yards on 17 carries and scored on runs of 2 and 1 yard while also completing a pair of touchdown passes – 6 yards to Gavin Morton and 30 yards to Zach Jorris – en route to a 141-yard passing outing as Monroe Central (2-2) topped Caldwell (2-2) by a 48-21 count Friday night.
Levi Brown led all rushers with 113 yards and scored on runs of 5, 11 yards for the Seminoles. Cordell Gauding recovered a fumble for another Monroe Central touchdown.
Tanner Baker caught a touchdown from Tanner Clark for the Redskins.
Notre Dame 32, Valley 22
CLARKSBURG – Trey Streets ran for a school-record 289 yards on 25 carries and scored on runs of 87 and 46 yards but it wasn’t enough to prevent Notre Dame (3-0) from rallying from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to beat Valley (2-2).
The Lumberjacks racked up 403 yards on 50 rushing attempts, including another 62 and a score from Peyton Palmer, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a loss.
