GOLF STANDOUT: Peyton Moore, Magnolia

After a break out freshman season, it looks like it is going to be the same this year for Magnolia sophomore Peyton Moore.

Just recently, he tied the school record of a 3-under par at Fairway Riverside.

“He never gets rattled,” Blue Eagles coach Dave Tallman said. “He works very hard at every facet of the game.”

During the summer, Moore played on the Calloway tour at Greenbrier and was one of eight players to do so.

“Last year as a freshman, he led us to the Ohio Valley Golf League championship,” Tallman said. “We want to defend that this year.”

With no seniors on the team, the future for the Magnolia boys’ golf team looks bright.

“It is hard to be a leader when you are only a sophomore, but with his work ethic, he is a great role model,” Tallman said.

Moore qualified to the state tournament last year and finished in the middle of the pack. This year, he wants to be in the top five or be the medalist.

“The sky is the limit for him,” Tallman said. “I believe if he lived in the south where he could play year round, we could be watching him on TV.

“We are still a young team. We have our goals set high. The things that we want to accomplish are still ahead of us.”
