Milestone Makers

There are many intangibles that lead to becoming a good basketball player.

Consistency, however, may rank at the top. From the NBA to the parochial leagues, the best players possess, among other things, consistency.

But how does one measure consistency?

Well, a good milestone to judge upon in high school is the 1,000-point marker.

Wether you get it through an array of 3-pointers like Shadyside’s Karli Bonar, or during a tough overtime loss like Martin’s Ferry’s Jessica Kinney, 1,000 points is 1,000 points.

However, if you’re St. Clairsville’s Dan Monteroso, a simple grand isn’t good enough, you need two.

That’s exactly what the multi-sport standout did as the senior surpassed 2,000 points in his final year.

Other’s that accomplished the 1,000 point feat are Wheeling Park’s Emily Puskarich and Haley Robb, John Marshall’s Kylie Howard, Wheeling Central’s Emily Bucon and Colleen McCormick, Linsly’s Anthony Wallace, Magnolia’s Mark Winters, Shadyside’s Hayley Holenka, Union Local’s Jacob Bailey and Beallsville’s Teryn Jarrett.

These players have had ‘grand’ careers.
