COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Nogay doubles in WVU defeat
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Madonna product Max Nogay doubled, but it wasn’t enough as West Virginia dropped a 6-5 verdict to Florida Atlantic on Sunday.
The Mountaineers scored four runs in the final three innings, but couldn’t prevail.
WVU opens the home portion of its season at 3 p.m. Tuesday against Eastern Kentucky.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Lewis University swept a college baseball doubleheader from Wheeling Jesuit on Sunday by scores of 17-0 and 9-2.
The Cardinals managed only three hits during the seven-inning opening contest as Jordan Medley, Cory Wickham and Patrick Ammar all had singles. The WJU pitcher, Tony Acierno received the loss in five innings of work, allowing four runs, two earned, with six strikeouts and two walks.
In Game 2, the Cardinals established the early lead, plating two runs in the second inning. Wheeling Jesuit scattered four hits as Medley, Robbie Davia, Nick Briski and Shaun Gutkin all had singles.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Wheeling Jesuit opened its trip to the Rebel Spring Games on Sunday by splitting a pair.
WJU opened with a 9-8 win in extra innings against Fayetteville State, and in the nightcap, fell 9-1, to Concordia St. Paul.
With two outs and a runner on third in the first game, Aleccia Sunagel delivered the game-winning hit for the Cardinals and RBI. Ashley Nichols entered the circle in the top of the last inning and earned the win. Erika Jusko homered.
