St. C. Sets Sights on New Scoreboard
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – St. Clairsville High School announced the decision to add a state-of-the-art video message board and scoreboard to Red Devil Stadium. Coming off an historic run to the football state finals in 2012, St. Clairsville intends to have the board ready for the 2013 fall season opener in August should the required sponsorship funds be secured through advertisers and sponsor commitments to the St. Clairsville High School Stadium Improvement Committee (SCHSSIC).
The largest of its kind amongst the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference’s member schools, the board upgrade, in addition to the existing synthetic turf and polyurethane track surface, will provide St. Clairsville student-athletes with one of the finest outdoor facilities in the region.
“The addition of a video board to the facility truly opens our school to even greater fan engagement and access to the action on the field,” St. C. AD Kelly Rine said. “Additionally, as Red Devil Stadium is the home of the OVAC Track & Field Championships and also currently under consideration by the OHSAA as a potential host site for the Regional Championship in 2014/2015, we anticipate added exposure for our sponsors along with the capability to feature live, electronic timing and video of each event contested.”
The innovative video board will greatly enhance the fan experience by providing high quality video and entertainment content at games and events held at the venue, including St. Clairsville football, girls and boys soccer, girls’ and boys’ track & field and other sporting events hosted at the Stadium.
“The opportunity to add this board rests solely on commitments of advertisers and sponsors through the Stadium Improvement Committee, so we encourage those interested to contact them and express any interest they may have in being a part of this project,” St. Clairsville Superintendent and principal Walt Skaggs said.
Educational opportunities extend to the student body, as select students will assist in running the video board on game days and consideration will be given as to how students can enhance their skill set by participating in gathering content for the board.
The SCHSSIC takes great pride in the many projects accomplished using funds from generous donors and supporters within the school community, alumni and sponsors with no use of school budget funds or use of taxpayer monies. SCHSSIC is working with Scholastic Sports Marketing (SSM) to assist with all aspects of the project including raising the sponsorship revenue necessary to fund the project.
