Roundup: Heasley hits for Cycle

PADEN CITY – Zach Heasley started the season strong as he hit for the cycle as Paden City hammered Valley, 11-1, in a mutual season opener.

Hayden Hizer doubled among three hits, while Luke Cooper collected two hits and drove in two runs for the Wildcats (1-0).

Cooper earned the win for Paden City.

Brandon Stoneking took the loss for the Lumberjacks (0-1).

Wirt County 1

MIDDLEBOURNE- Jordan Baker threw a one-hitter as Tyler Consolidated beat Wirt County for its first victory of the season.

Baker stuck out seven, while Evan Davis and Colby Lash drove in two runs a piece for the Silver Knights (1-2).


Paden City 15, Valley 1

PADEN CITY – Paden City scored 15 runs in the bottom of the first as the Wildcats routed Valley in three innings.

Amber Neff earned the win with five K’s and three walks for Paden City (1-2), while Megan Pierce tripled among two hits and drove in two runs.

Taylor Cosper added three hits, Tori Anderson and Kayla Hizer finished with two and Abby Still drove in two runs for the Wildcats.

Wirt County 4, Tyler Consolidated 1

MIDDLEBOURNE – Tyler Consolidated couldn’t overcome a three-run third inning by Wirt County as the Silver Knights fell in their season opener.

Jasmine Moore took the loss for the Silver Knights (0-1).

Ritchie County 0

Oak Glen 4, St. Marys 0

PARKERSBURG – Madison Juszczak picked up two singles victories as Oak Glen swept Ritchie County and St. Marys.

Juszczak teamed with Haley Spurlock, who also picked up a singles victory, to defeated Ritchie County’s Mikaya Hayes and Audrey Mosser in No. 1 double.

Madison Hill earned a singles victories against Ritchie County, while Katie Szymanski also won her singles match against St. Marys for the Golden Bears.
