BASEBALL ROUNDUP Linsly Sweep Shenandoah

WHEELING – Linsly swept a doubleheader from visiting Shenandoah Saturday.

In the first game, freshman Gage Giovengo went 4 for 4 with four singles and three RBI to lead the victory.

Jameson Murray had a single and a double and drove in three runs and Arien Seymour had a single and double. Dylan Goodnight picked up the victory, striking out six with two walks and also had two singles and a RBI.

In the nightcap, Murray homered and also earned the win, striking out five.

Goodnight had a double, triple and drove in a pair of runs, Seymour had two hits, including a double and Colton Coss had a RBI.

Brooke 11-12

Parkersburg South 1-6

WELLSBURG – Brooke swept a twinbill from Parkersburg South behind the hitting of Heath Hildreth and the timely pitching of Chad Harper and Mario Lombardi.

Hildreth combined for three hots and four RBI in the two games.

Brooke has already won more games than it did last season.

Justin Lughrie single and doubled in the opener and Fargo Camerlengo had two singles.

Camerlengo also had two singles in the nightcap and Kelaen Welch had a single, double and three RBI.

Paden City 0-10

Frontier 3-4

FRONTIER – Andrew Dennis had three hits and Zach Heasley doubled in three runs to help Paden City avoid a sweep in the second game of a doubleheader.

Craig Allen added two singles and knocked in two to make a winner of Luke Cooper (eight strikeouts and six walks). Hayden Hizer added two singles and drove in a run.

In the opener Frontier’s Mitch Minder shutout Paden City on four hits, striking out five.

Minder and Wyatt Smitley had run-producing singles.

CLARKSBURG – Wheeling Park took two games on a trip to Central West Virginia.

Daniel Basiak had two singles a double anddrove in three and picked up the victory on the mound in the first game of the day.

In the nightcap Kody Nemo had a single and drove in three runs and Tyler Cooley added a single, double and drove in a run.

Cambridge 11

Indian Creek 3

WINTERSVILLE – Maurice Lathan tripled and drove in a run and Kohl McPeek doubled in a run as Cambridge rolled to victory.

Zavin Orr picked up the win, striking out four with a pair of walks.

Jimmy Bolyog and Mitch Gibbons doubled for Creek.

Magnolia 7

North Marion 6

MANNINGTON – Jake Starkey had two doubles and a RBI and Chase Miller and Grant Cain each had a single and a double and drove in a run in Magnolia’s victory.

Tyler Anderson and Brandon Mason had a pair of hits for the Blue Eagles.

Miler picked up the win, workijng six innings with five strikeouts and three walks.
