Rain Halts Park In Vienna
VIENNA – Rain was the culprit Friday afternoon as visiting Wheeling Park and Parkersburg tried to get in their Class AAA Region I softball semifinal at Jackson Park, but eventually the game had to halted for a second – and final – time.
With one on and one out in the top of the fifth inning and Wheeling Park ahead 3-1, the game was suspended and will be resumed at noon today.
The Big Reds took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as leadoff hitter Morgan Lanham reached base on an infield single, was sacrificed to second by Rylee Boggess, went to third on a fielding error and scored on Cassidy Newbrough’s sacrifice fly to right.
In the third, the Patriots tallied three times to take the lead.
Park put together a one-out walk, Ashleigh Sidon’s infield single, a two-run double by Katarina Donzella past shortstop into left field that rolled almost to the outfield fence and Keleigh Sidon’s pop-up into short right that dropped in for an RBI single.
