WLU’s Montes Named to All-Region Team

WEST LIBERTY – West Liberty University track standout Alexis Montes was one of only three Mountain East Conference women named to the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Atlantic Region Team for the 2014 outdoor season.

Montes, a freshman from John Marshall High School, earned All-Region honors in the javelin as her school-record mark of 42.41 meters (139 feet, 2 inches) at the Bethany Invitational in April was the fourth-best effort in the region all spring.

Joining Montes on the All-Region team were fellow MEC competitors Emily Bokanovich (javelin) of Charleston and Wheeling Jesuit’s Ashley Field (discus).

The top five individuals in each event and members of the top three relay teams constitute the 2014 USTCCCA All-Atlantic Region Team.

The Atlantic Region consists of teams from the MEC, Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
