Former WVU Player Competes on World StageFormer WVU Player Competes on World Stage
U.S. Men’s National Team defender Geoff Cameron got his collegiate soccer start at West Virginia University.
Cameron, a native of Attleboro, Mass., played two seasons for the Mountaineers (2004-05) before transferring to Rhode Island to finish out his collegiate career.
In college, Cameron played primarily as a midfielder.
Following college, he was drafted in 2008 by the Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo – the same team WVU’s athletics director, Oliver Luck, served as president and general manager of until July 2010.
During a September 2010 interview in Houston, Cameron had this to say when asked what advice he would give Luck for WVU: “Pump the money into the soccer program! WVU is a good place.
“It was a fun experience, the two years I was there. -Obviously I still root for WVU football.”
