Lions Scramble Exceeds $100K

The 2017 Wheeling Lions Club Golf Scramble was contested May 12 at Oglebay’s Crispin Course and brought in over $7,500 to exceed more than $100,000 in 19 years. Tournament Director Dan Tennant set a personal goal in Year 1 to exceed the $100,000 mark in 20 years and the Lions accomplished this goal one year early. Typically attracting 20-30 teams, players come from all backgrounds within the community to support this worthy cause. The Wheeling Lions Club is the hub club for WV District 29L and celebrated 95 years in service to the community in January 2017. Proceeds provide services to the Wheeling/Ohio County area. Services like:

∫ Free eye exams and glasses for Ohio County Schools students.

∫ Financial assistance for any Ohio County resident for exams and/or glasses.

∫ Financial assistance for hearing aids for any Ohio County resident.

∫ Sponsorship of other local charities like The Wheeling Soup Kitchen, Laughlin Chapel, LEO Clubs, The Salvation Army and Feed the Hungry at St. Luke’s Church.
