Celtics Edge Trail Blazers
BOSTON (AP) — Al Horford captured the attention of Boston sports fans even on Super Bowl Sunday.
Horford made a 15-foot fadeaway jumper at the buzzer and the Celtics finished off the Portland Trail Blazers 97-96 Sunday, giving New England fans a few hours to get home before the Patriots played for the NFL championship.
Horford wound up with 22 points and 10 rebounds, helping Boston win its fourth in a row.
Damian Lillard shot just 6 for 19, but scored Portland’s final eight points, including a 3-point play with 7.2 seconds remaining to give the Blazers a 96-95 lead.
C.J. McCollum led the Blazers with 22 points and Lillard added 21.
Terry Rozier had with 11 points on 5-of-18 shooting after recording a triple-double and a career-high 31 points in his previous two games starting in place of Celtics guard Kyrie Irving.
Bucks 109, Nets 94
NEW YORK (AP) — Eric Bledsoe scored 28 points, John Henson had season highs with 19 points and 18 rebounds, and Milwaukee easily extended its winning streak over the Brooklyn Nets to 10 games with a 109-94 victory Sunday.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton each had 16 points for the Bucks, who improved to 6-1 since firing Jason Kidd and moved a season-best six games over .500 at 29-23.
DeMarre Carroll and Caris LeVert each scored 15 for the Nets, who lost for the sixth time in seven games.
Hawks 99, Knicks 96
NEW YORK (AP) — It was a bull’s-eye for Kent Bazemore.
Bazemore hit a 3-pointer with 6.7 seconds left that put the Atlanta Hawks ahead Sunday in a 99-96 win over the New York Knicks.
The Hawks rallied from a 93-87 deficit in the final 2:16.
Bazemore was wide open in the left corner and hit for a 98-96 lead. Tim Hardaway Jr. then stepped on the line trying to inbound, giving the ball back to Atlanta.
Bazemore led the Hawks with 19 points. Mike Muscala scored 15 and Taurean Prince had 13.
Dedmon finished with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Dennis Schroeder added 10 points for Atlanta.
Porzingis scored 22 for the Knicks. Trey Burke added 14, Jarrett Jack and Kyle O’Quinn each scored 11, and Enes Kanter finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Raptors 101, Grizzlies 86
TORONTO (AP) — After Toronto’s bench players started the fourth quarter with a bang, Raptors coach Dwane Casey let them keep playing until the final buzzer.
Delon Wright scored 15 points, DeMar DeRozan and Fred VanVleet each had 13 and the Raptors pulled away in the fourth to beat Memphis 101-86 on Sunday, their fifth straight home win over the slumping Grizzlies.
Lakers 108, Thunder 104
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Brook Lopez scored 20 points, Julius Randle added 19 and the Los Angeles Lakers sent the Oklahoma City Thunder to their fourth straight loss, 108-104 on Sunday.
Jordan Clarkson scored 18 points and Brandon Ingram added 16 for the Lakers, who have won six of eight.
Russell Westbrook scored 36 points and Paul George added 26 for the Thunder. Oklahoma City had won eight in a row before its current skid.
Hornets 115, Suns 110
PHOENIX (AP) — Credit the Charlotte Hornets’ bench for the team’s biggest comeback victory of the season.
The reserves ignited a 20-2 run to start the fourth quarter and Charlotte rallied from a 21-point second-half deficit to beat the Phoenix Suns 115-110 on Sunday.
Nicolas Batum scored 22 points to lead Charlotte while Howard and Kemba Walker had 18 apiece. But none of them scored in the fourth, when the Hornets roared back.
Rookie Josh Jackson scored a career-high 23 and T.J. Warren added 21 for the Suns.
