ATLANTA (AP) — Lauri Markkanen made three free throws to give Chicago the lead for good, Zach LaVine scored a career-high 47 points and the Bulls overcame Trae Young’s career-high 49 points to beat the Atlanta Hawks 168-161 in four overtimes Friday night.

Markkanen finished with 31 points with 17 rebounds. He snapped a 159-all tie by making the three free throws after he was fouled by Alex Len.

Young, the rookie who played almost 56 minutes, had his third straight game of setting or matching his career scoring high after back-to-back games with 36 points.

He had 16 assists, eight rebounds and nine turnovers.

Young and DeAndre Bembry had turnovers in the final 30 seconds of the third overtime, preventing the Hawks from an opportunity to snap a 155-all tie.

Ryan Arcidiacono’s 3-pointer forced the third overtime.

The Bulls have won five of six.

BOSTON (AP) — Kyrie Irving had 13 points and 12 assists, Al Horford scored 18 points and Boston beat Washington to snap a four-game losing streak.

Marcus Morris added 17 points and nine rebounds, Marcus Smart scored 16 points, and Jaylen Brown added 13. The Celtics won for the first time since the All-Star break to avoid their first five-game skid in more than four years.

Bradley Beal had 29 points and 11 rebounds for the Wizards, and Tomas Satoransky and Jeff Green each had 15 points.

TORONTO (AP) — Kawhi Leonard scored the go-ahead basket with 3 seconds remaining and Toronto beat Portland.

Leonard scored 38 points and Kyle Lowry had 19 points and 10 assists to help the Raptors win for the ninth time in 10 games.

C.J. McCollum scored 35 points and matched a career best with 3-pointers for Portland. Damian Lillard added 24 points.

NEW YORK (AP) — Kemba Walker scored 25 points, Jeremy Lamb added 22 and Charlotte beat Brooklyn to snap a three-game skid.

The Hornets inched back ahead of Orlando for eighth place in the Eastern Conference and evened the season series with the sixth-place Nets to avoid giving Brooklyn the head-to-head tiebreaker if the teams finish with the same record.

D’Angelo Russell scored 22 points for the Nets. They have lost four of five.

PHOENIX (AP) — Julius Randle scored 16 of his 22 points in the third quarter in New Orleans’ victory over Phoenix.

Jrue Holiday added 21 points, E’Twaun Moore had 20, and Anthony Davis — on a team-imposed playing-time restriction — had 17 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes.

Devin Booker scored 26 points for Phoenix. The Suns lost their first game after ending a 17-game skid.
