ROUNDUP: Park Softball Wins Second Straight Game

PARKERSBURG — Wheeling Park won its second game in a row on Wednesday with an 8-3 triumph over Parkersburg.

Ashley Linder earned the win with a strikeout and two walks in a complete game effort.

Kieran Johnson paced the Park (2-3) offense with two doubles and a RBI, while catcher Mahayla McCroskey followed that up with a single, a double and two RBI.

Maddie Westfall was solid at the plate with two hits and a RBI, Lauren Fox supplied two hits, Kelsey Chacalos delivered a double and two RBI and Shea Wright added a double.

BLACKSVILLE — After a tough start on opening day, the Hundred baseball team got back on track in a big way.

The Hornets (1-1) won the battle of the bees, stinging the Cee-Bees for a seven-run fifth in an impressive road victory.

Christian Fluharty was dominant on the hill with 16 strikeouts.

Gauge Boston led the offense with four hits and two RBI, followed by Bryce Bartrug’s double and two singles.

Fluharty also amassed two hits at the plate, as did Dylan Walton.

University 14

John Marshall 9

MORGANTOWN — A nine-run first inning was too much for a resilient John Marshall baseball team to overcome as University secured the home win.

Joel Wise blasted a home run and knocked in two runs for the Monarchs.

Grant Swift tallied a double, two singles and a RBI and Shane Dobbs turned in two hits and a RBI.

GLEN DALE –Behind the strong effort of No. 1 singles competitor Miranda Taylor, the Monarchs blanked the Bruins.

Taylor looked strong earning an 8-2 win in singles and with the help of Sebrena Palmer, garnered an 8-1 victory in doubles action.

Wheeling Central 2

WHEELING — Despite falling to University, Wheeling Central had an impressive day from No. 1 singles sophomore Laina Anderson.

Anderson opened play with an 8-1 singles win and added an 8-8 (7-3) tie-breaker win in doubles action with teammate Megan Staley.

GLEN DALE — In a close contest, Matt Reed picked up a big 8-5 win in the No. 2 singles event to help Brooke edge John Marshall.

University 7

Wheeling Central 0

WHEELING — Kyle Hawthorne was brilliant in singles action, topping Central’s No. 1 David Agcaoili 8-0 to help lift the Hawks over the Maroon Knights.

NEW MARTINSVILLE — Cristal Tetrault and Lexi Rheinhardt picked up singles and teamed up for a doubles win on Tuesday night to help lift Oak Glen over Magnolia.

The Blue Eagles received singles wins from Raegan Hale and Clara Moore, who also delivered a doubles triumph at No. 2.
