PREP ROUNDUP: Bridgeport’s Brooklynn Ruble Fans 17 in No-Hitter Against Buckeye Local in Softball Action
CONNORVILLE — Brooklynn Ruble fired a no-hitter Wednesday as Bridgeport blanked homestanding Buckeye Local, 2-0, in softball action. The right-hander struck out 17, walked one and hit one.
Bri Conaway smacked three singles and drove in a run for the Bulldogs (7-5). Angie Sommer singled in the other run.
Morgantown 3, Wheeling Park 1
MORGANTOWN — Catie Nesbitt had two hits and Shea Wright added a single and a RBI but Park was downed by Morgantown.
Magnolia 10, Paden City 0
NEW MARTINSVILLE — Ashley Tharp dazzled, striking out nine and allowing no walks and one hit as Magnolia upended Paden City.
She also brought the bat, smacking a pair of hits and driving in one.
Ashley Kelly turned in three hits and two RBI, while Lindsay Whiteman and Rian Dawson each supplied two hits and two RBI for the Blue Eagles.
Brooke 1, Martins Ferry 0
MARTINS FERRY — Rachel Kazmirski and Abby Bumbico went toe-to-toe in a pitcher’s dual but it was Brooke that walked away with a win over Martins Ferry (10-7).
Kazmirski struck out three in the shutout victory and Bumbico fired five strikeouts. Landyn Haynes delivered a RBI single in the first, which proved to be the winning run for the Bruins (11-8).
Shadyside 15, Barnesville 5
SHADYSIDE — Kiley Jo Baker drove in five runs as the Tigers (8-7) roared past the visiting Shamrocks at the Mead Township Park Complex.
Madison Davis knocked in three runs with two singles and a double. Holly Butler doubled twice and singled while Tori hendershot singled twice, doubled and plated a run.
Brooke Reager fanned nine in gaining the win.
Madison Detling slugged a 2-run homer for Barnesville. Regan Hanlon doubled in a run and Erin Hannahs singled twice.
Wheeling Park 13, Brooke 0
WELLSBURG — Isaac Hines shined on the hill and at the plate as Wheeling Park rolled over Brooke.
Hines fired six strikeouts and allowed four hits, while shutting out the Bruins’ offense. He also drove in two on three singles and a double.
Nolan Mattern led the offense with a pair of doubles, two singles and five RBI, while Jacob Shia accounted for two doubles, a single and two RBI and James Salvatori delivered three hits and a RBI.
Trevor Thomas continued to swing a hot bat with a double, a single and two RBI and Jason Gwynn added a RBI knock.
Wheeling Central 12, Madonna 8
WEIRTON — Wheeling Central rallied from 7-1 down as Jacob Rine delivered three singles, a triple and two RBI to lead the Maroon Knights past Madonna.
Angelo Gentile recorded a single, a double and four RBI, Adam Murray laced a double and a single for two RBI and Jordan Waterhouse added a double, a single and a RBI.
Ben Foster earned the win with six strikeouts in relief. He also drove in two runs and supplied a hit for Central (12-5).
Matthew Amaismeir paced the Dons (12-13) with a double and a single, while Luke Beatty and Domenic Brncic each had a single and two RBI.
Linsly 7, Cameron 5
WHEELING — Hunter Kelley legged out a triple and tallied two singles and three RBI to lead Linsly over Cameron.
Kelley has now recorded six hits in two days.
Dom Gorence struck out six to earn a complete game victory, while adding a double and a single.
Alex Papadimitriou generated a pair of doubles, a single and a RBI, while Eli Petho drove in two on two hits and Jules Giovengo added two hits.
Travis Mickey paced the Dragons with a single, a double and two RBI, while Trin Scott produced two hits and Aidan Lucey doubled and drove in a run.
Garrett Scott and Jessop Broughton each had a hit and a RBI for Cameron.
Magnolia 5, Paden City 4
NEW MARTINSVILLE — Magnolia rallied from three runs down in the seventh inning to defeat Paden City.
Eli Nice delivered the walk-off RBI single for the Blue Eagles (5-10).
Silas McKeever picked up a RBI single and Matt Gaiser belted a two-run double to tie the game in the seventh. Pat Mirandy also had two hits.
Clayton Thomas paced the Wildcats with a double and a RBI.
Jake Gamble fired 14 strikeouts for Magnolia and Matt Saxon had 10 for Paden City.
Tyler Consolidated 22, Valley 1
SISTERSVILLE — Jake Rice led the charge with two hits and four RBI as Tyler Consolidated overpowered Valley.
Weston Henderson knocked in a run on two hits for Tyler, while Gage Huffman supplied a double and two RBI and Tyler West doubled in a run.
Braden Rine accounted for a RBI single and Creed Ammons drove in three runs for the Silver Knights.
Indian Creek 11, Harrison Central 6
WINTERSVILLE — Josh Speaker drove in four runs and doubled, while striking out six and earning the win as Indian Creek upended Harrison Central.
Klay Cottis doubled and singled for the Redskins (7-5).
Andrew Clelland finished with two singles, a triple and three RBI and Kobe Mitchell added two RBI for the Huskies (5-7).

WEIRTON — Wheeling Park’s Abby Jones, Teresa Simon, Ashley Trischler and Emma Ihlenfeld were all brilliant as they swept the singles matches from Weir.
Linsly 7, St. Clairsville 0
WHEELING — The Linsly girls’ tennis team is on a roll.
Rachel Ekanem, Lakin Snider, Caitlin Mead and Selina Zhu continued to dominate singles events as they all won their matches over St. Clairsville.

WEIRTON — Wheeling Park gained momentum by winning all singles and doubles matches over Weir at Starvaggi Park.
Ryan Payne, Jitesh Pujara, Wyatt Andrews and David Croft all earned singles victories for the Patriots.

WHEELING — Linsly’s Felipe Garcia, Divo Cerjan, Nick White and Raymond Tian made it a clean sweep of St. Clairsville in singles action.
Oak Glen 7, Madonna 0
NEW CUMBERLAND –Oak Glen had little trouble with Madonna on the tennis court as Lucca Contin, Brogan Moran, Parker Provenzano and Zack Alley all earned singles wins for the Golden Bears.
