Steubenville Big Red Head coach: Kelly Lancia

Fifth-year head coach Kelly Lancia and the Steubenville cheering team have worked hard to improve their routine since it was last performed at the Jefferson County Fair and they will be ready to show it off at the OVAC Championship on Feb. 4 at WesBanco Arena.

“We have tweaked sections to make it cleaner and more eye-catching,” Lancia said.

“Ripple effects are what will truly make our routine stand out. It is filled with “catch-on” tumbling, a stunning cheer and a new added pom-pom dance that should bring excitement to the floor.”

Miranda Treglia and Carolissa Cucarese are also helping Lancia lead the team into OVACs.

The squad consists of seniors Kylee Taylor, Jordie Ferguson, Launastasis, Kira Newburn, Mallory Mettenberger, Lauren Ferrell and Gillian Haught; lone junior Jalen Byrom; sophomores Haleigh Feist, T’kayla Kelley, Gabby Lulla; and freshmen Jazzmin Jett, Jillian Swinsinski and Mia Pierro.

“This group of girls is very hardworking and truly makes the most of their time at practice,” Lancia said.

“Any task that they are given, even last-minute changes, they always step up and remember every new detail.”

After all of the hard work, decisions and changes that the Big Red cheer team has made to the routine, Lancia and the coaching staff are excited to see the results.

“We are very proud of them,” Lancia said. “We are thrilled to show off our fresh and polished routine.”
