Polish Festival Begins With Mass

WEIRTON — Sacred Heart of Mary Parish in Weirton will celebrate their annual Polish Fest on Sunday, Aug. 7 from noon-8 p.m. at the Serbian Picnic Grounds in Weirton. The festivities will begin with a Polka Mass at noon.  Music for the Mass will be provided by Tom Zielinsky on his accordion.

Musical entertainment will be provided after Mass by Tom Zielinsky until 4 p.m. when the Honky Express Band arrives from Cleveland, Ohio to take the stage until 8 p.m.

Traditional Polish cuisine including cabbage rolls, haluski, kielbasa, and pierogi will be available after Mass. Roast beef, hot dogs and baked goods will also be sold. For the young and young-at-heart, there will be carnival games, funnel cakes, popcorn, and sno-cones.

Raffle tickets are available at the church office or from any parishioner at a cost of $10 each, with prizes of $2,000,  $1,000 and two at $500. The winning tickets will be drawn at 8 p.m.
