Bill and Hazel Johnston of Wellsburg are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were united in marriage on Aug. 3, 1954, at Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, with Paster H. Ross Hume officiating.

Hazel Johnston is the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy Berty of Cecil, Pa. She is retired after 28 years as a recreational therapist from the former Western State School and Hospital in Canonsburg.

Bill Johnston, a Korean War veteran, is the son of the late J. Harvey and Frances Weaver Johnston. He was employed at the Meadow Lands R.C.A. plant as a labor cost analyst, retiring after 25 years, and was the owner and operator of Johnston Construction of Canonsburg.

The Johnstons are the parents of six children. The family includes William and his wife, Jody, of New Cumberland; Deborah Biggs and her husband, Jim, of Salisbury, Md.; Katie Martin and her husband, Jim, of Canonsburg; John Harvey, deceased; Harvey, deceased; daughter-in-law DeYonne of Canonsburg; and Suzannah Davis and her husband, Rob, of Salisbury, Md. They have 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A celebration is planned with family and friends.
