Couple Marks 50 Years
Fred and Jerry Chambers of Wellsburg celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, May 22.
They were united in marriage on May 22, 1965 at the Beech Bottom Christian Church, with the late Rev. William Taylor officiating the ceremony.
Fred Chambers is the son of the late Floyd and Genevieve Chambers. He is a graduate of West Liberty State College and Cincinnati College of Embalming School. He is the former owner of Chambers and James Funeral Homes in Wellsburg and Follansbee and is now retired.
Jerry Chambers is the daughter of the late William Lynch and Elizabeth and Donald Landmeyer. She is a graduate of the Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing in Wheeling and worked as a registered nurse in hospitals and the Brooke County Health Department. She also is a former owner of Chambers and James Funeral Homes, where she worked for more than 20 years before retiring.
They are the parents of three children: Jamie (Brent) Johnson of Pittsburgh; Lance (Laurie) Chambers of Evanston, Ill. and Melissa (Jeff) Wright of Knoxville, Tenn. They have seven grandchildren.
They will celebrate later this summer with a family vacation to Hilton Head, S.C.
