They were united in marriage July 2, 1977, at Wilson Lodge, Oglebay Park, with the Rev. Dr. Paul N. Elbin officiating.

Linda Smith is the daughter of the late William E. and Luella Stewart Phillips of West Liberty. She is a State Farm Insurance agent.

Stephen Smith is the son of the late David H. and Margaret White Smith of Washington, Pa. He is retired from the claims department at State Farm.

They have four sons. The family includes Stephen and his wife, Nicole, of Mayfield Village, Ohio; Trevor of Pittsburgh; Drew, deceased; and Preston and his wife, Sarah, of Wheeling. They have five grandchildren.
