WLU Alumni Plans Trip to Sunny Italy in 2020
WEST LIBERTY– West Liberty University is planning a trip to Italy for alumni and friends that will offer a thrilling look at Venice, Florence and Rome in 2020.
“Professor Peter Staffel and I worked together to plan an itinerary that we think will delight our travelers and we encourage anyone interested to give us a call and find out more,” said Executive Director of Alumni and Community Relations Ron Witt.
Staffel has taught English at West Liberty University for more than 20 years and is a frequent international traveler. In addition to teaching, he organizes the cultural enrichment events for students in the Honors College and leads study abroad trips in the summer.
The trip takes place from June 24-July 2, 2020 and final payment must be made by April 15, 2020. The trip includes three iconic cities at the pulse of Italy’s vibrant culture, both past and present. Venice brings romance to the forefront, with sprawling Baroque palaces and meandering, gondola-dotted canals. The Renaissance is tangible in Florence, where the presence of the world’s greatest artists can still be felt. And in Rome, history is ever-present, from the crumbling Colosseum to the Forum.
“We will have a great time in Italy, The people, the food, the way of life, it will be a trip of a lifetime,” Witt said.
The trip is being coordinated by Go Ahead Tours, an active member of United States Tour Operators Association. According to its website, “as the world’s largest private education company, we draw on over 50 years of experience and a rich network of local tour directors, historians and experts.
The cost of the trip includes seven nights lodging, seven breakfasts, three dinners with beverages, three guided sightseeing tours, expert tour director and local guides and a private deluxe motor coach.
Group Tour Site offers an automatic payment plan through their checking account and save $50. For more information, travelers can visit the website: grouptoursite.com/tours/WLU.
WLU’s Alumni Office previously traveled as a group in June 2018, when the group took a cruise from Florida to Cuba.
“Everyone had a great time in 2018 and were anxious to plan and take part in another trip so we are pleased to offer this tour of Venice, Florence and Rome next June. Our alumni are fun and the educational aspect of this journey is tremendous. The historical significance of these sites can’t be overrated,” said Witt.
