Bridgeport Artist To Be Showcased
Bridgeport artist Tammy L. Gross will present her works at Artworks Around Town’s Gallery Hop on Friday, July 12. The free reception from 5:30-8 p.m., is open to the public and takes place at the newly refurbished Studio Gallery in historic Centre Market’s north building.
Gross has been creating art in one medium or another since she was a child. Her father and grandfather were both painters and were influential examples early in her life. She was inspired and mentored by her photographer father and graphic artist “Gwydian” (Michael Wiseman). Her favorite medium for years has been photography and graphic art, oftentimes incorporating the two together. This melding of the two seemed very natural and came after vast experience in working in other mediums.
She creates with light giving the feeling of peace and surrealism to her work. One of her passions is photographing cemeteries but abandoned buildings, people, landscapes and flowers are also subjects of interest to her. Gross has been published many times, including a feature in Celtic Family magazine. She has a business “Three Willows Photography by Tammy L. Gross” where she offers family, seniors, children and pet sessions. Her Facebook page, “Whispered Tales of the Ohio Valley” contains many photos and stories about the area. According to this page, she enjoys “art, camping, music, the paranormal, fresh water aquariums and family.”
Prints of her stunning work are available through any of her Facebook pages.
The North Student Gallery will feature artwork by residents of The Children’s Home of Wheeling. Taught by Joyce Patterson, the works of her students are always fresh and compelling. Artworks is a non profit art gallery and educational entity located at 2200 Market St., in Center Wheeling. Hours are from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday except for Friday, when closing is at 6 p.m. For information about applying to join the art community at Artworks, visit the website: artworksaroundtown.com.
