Moundsville Class of ’58
Moundsville High School Class of 1958 is having a luncheon at the Guest House in Moundsville at 1 p.m. Thursday.
A reunion for Wellsburg’s First Ward will be held at the E.R. Nichols Playground in Wellsburg Friday through next Sunday.
A wiener roast, music and karaoke will be offered on Friday. The celebration will continue with food, music and various activities from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
A memorial service and balloon launch will be held at 11 a.m. next Sunday, with a luncheon at noon and music at 1 p.m.
Descendants of Edna Elizabeth Chapline and James Landon Bier will hold a family reunion at the Wagon Shed shelter in Oglebay Park on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
About 50 family members are expected to attend. They will be celebrating the 100th wedding anniversary of Bier and Chapline, who were united in marriage at Wesley Methodist Church, Wheeling, on July 28, 1919.
The Biers had nine children and 34 grandchildren. Two children of the original nine, Alice B. Bruhn and Mary B. Jones, are still living and are expected to attend the reunion. The cousins will share the usual picnic food plus a wedding cake.
The last full reunion was 10 years ago. Now more cousins from another branch of the family want to join in the gathering. This family welcomes any Chapline looking to research their ancestry.
