Get a Glimpse of Farm Life At The Ohio County Country Fair
WHEELING — The Ohio County Country Fair at Site 1 opens at noon Friday and continues through Sunday during the Oglebayfest celebration at Oglebay Park.
The fair will offer displays of elaborate quilts, homegrown foods and gentle animals. The fair has a variety of traditional fair demonstrations and competitions for all ages including quilting demonstrations, butter making, hog calling, fiddling, rock throwing, and baby crawling competitions. It will also host the West Virginia Pony Pull Championship and the baked goods auction.
Cabin Fever String Band will perform from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Friday at the country square dance. Bidding on baked goods will be held on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Edgar Hooper Memorial Scholarship fund. The Ohio County Country Fair, held in conjunction with Oglebayfest next weekend, will host its first queens pageant on Thursday evening.
In addition, chicken drop bingo, sponsored by the 4-H Livestock Club will take place on Friday and Saturday. Proceeds benefit the 4-H Livestock Club and the Edgar Hooper Memorial Scholarship. Tickets will be available for purchase in the Livestock Tent prior to the event.
Among the entries and displays will be baked good, canned good, flower arrangment, fruits and vegetables, needlework, quilt show and contest, pony pull, hitch class, egg judging, scarecrow contest, and pumpkin carving contest.
