More Than Just a Walk in the Stalks

Oglebay Institute is celebrating the fall season with its first corn maze on the lawn of the Stifel Fine Arts Center.

This festive family experience is more than just a walk through the stalks. The program includes a treasure hunt, art activities, treats and prizes. There will also be concessions, photo opportunities, outdoor games and a corn pit – filled with shelled corn and sand box toys – for the kids and kids at heart to play in.

Guests can browse the Halloween Art Exhibit on display in the Hart Galleries of the Stifel Fine Arts Center. The exhibit features more than 100 pieces of art created by local artists in the spirit of Halloween and the fall season.

The OI Corn Maze will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Nov. 1.

All ages are welcome. Families can bring their furry friends, too. A pet contest will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 with prizes awarded for most creative, funniest and scariest costume. An entry fee is charged per pet, and participants must register by noon.

Admission to the corn maze and fall festival includes all games and activities with proceeds supporting children’s programming at the Stifel Fine Arts Center. Concessions and other items will be available for purchase.

Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and enjoy a fall picnic on the Stifel lawn.
