Fans Grateful for A ‘Very Jerry Christmas’
Grateful Dead tribute band The Get Down is planning to deliver the gift of a special Christmas nightcap to the Ohio Valley.
The Get Down will play host to “A Very Jerry Christmas” at 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 25, at the historic Lincoln Theater in New Martinsville, featuring music of the Grateful Dead performed lived by the band and a number of very special guests.
After the family holiday get-togethers, church services, gift exchanges, feasts and traditional celebrations wind down, the festivities will continue in a big way with a night dancing to live music by one of the tri-state region’s most popular Grateful Dead tribute bands. The Get Down has delivered a Christmas treat in the past, and with everyone home for the holidays and most businesses closed on Christmas Day, the “Very Jerry Christmas” promises to once again be a well-attended community gathering of extended family and friends.
Special guests include Tim Boyd of Wheeling-based psychedelic jam band KR-3, who will make his debut on lead guitar with The Get Down.
Vocalist Anthony Riley and other guests musicians are expected to appear as well, and there will be a top-notch sound system and light show to help fill the Lincoln Theater with holiday cheer.
There will be a complimentary cocktail and refreshment lounge directly across from the Lincoln Theater at the former Florentine Arts Center, and free shuttle services will be available to all local hotels.
