Holiday Mystery at River City Saturday

A hot-shot elf, a shady reindeer and a couple of down-and-out policemen populate Mystery Theatre Unlimited’s holiday murder mystery show “Slay Ride Five – C.S.I.: North Pole.”

The dinner-theater production will be offered on Saturday, Dec. 20 at River City Restaurant, 1401 Main St., Wheeling.

In the original musical-comedy show, it is Christmas Eve and Santa Claus, played by Dustin Heavilin, faces a deadline to sign a new labor agreement with his reindeer.

The new labor union shop steward, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Jr., played by Ryan Sears, is the son of the late legendary airborne buck. He locks antlers with Santa’s chief of staff. The elf, played by Butch Maxwell, is an ambitious corporate-minded MBA intent on modernizing the North Pole, despite Santa’s resistanceto change.

Meanwhile, two former cops, played by Michael Moran and Bert Furioli, arrive at the North Pole. They are on a mission to be redeemed and reinstated, but soon after they appear, a murder occurs.

Written by Furioli and Maxwell, the show features broad comedy, musical parodies and audience interaction.
