St. C. Singers to Host Spaghetti Dinner Thursday

Members of the St. C. Singers are gearing up for their 2018-19 show choir competition season, and this week will host one of their biggest fundraisers of the year. They will join other vocal music groups from the school to perform during a spaghetti dinner from 4-8 p.m. Thursday. Senior members of the St. C. Singers include, in front from left, Annaliese Ayres and Alexis Barker; second row from left, Kamryn Russell and Grace Heath; third row from left, Caleb Berk, Nick Nicholoff and Justin Hoover; and in back from left, Devin McFarland and Tavian Harris. ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Things behind the scenes are cooking for what promises — beyond a shadow of a doubt — to be another show-stopping season by the St. C. Singers, and this week the local community has an opportunity to help support the group as the 2018-19 season officially gets underway.

One of the group’s biggest annual fundraisers — the fall spaghetti dinner — will take place from 4-8 p.m. Thursday in the cafetorium of the St. Clairsville City Schools’ main campus. The event not only raises funds that allow the group to participate in show choir competitions throughout the region, but also gives the public a chance to get a sneak peak of songs that will be part of this year’s show, “Shadows Into the Light.”

A full slate of entertainment will be offered during the spaghetti dinner, including performances in the middle school auditorium by the St. C. Singers at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; the St. Clairsville High School Chamber Choir at 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.; St. C. Sweet Harmony at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.; the St. Clairsville Middle School Choir at 6:30 p.m.; and the St. C. Little Singers at 7 p.m.

The St. C. Singers’ 2018-19 show choir season will take the group on the road to competitions at high schools throughout Ohio and West Virginia early next year. The Singers’ schedule includes performances on Jan. 12 at the Alliance Royal Aviation Show Choir Competition in Alliance, Ohio; on Jan. 19 at the Piqua Show Choir Invitational in Piqua, Ohio; on Feb. 9 at the Grafton Tygart Dam Choral Classic in Graton, W.Va.; on Feb. 16 at the South Harrison Showcase in Lost Creek, W.Va., and on Feb. 23 at Buckeye Local High School, where the St. C. Singers will play host to their own competition, the annual St. C. Division 3 Show Choir Invitational. The St. C. Singers end the season on March 16 during their 2019 spring performing arts trip to New York City with an ajudicated perfomance at the College of Staten Island’s Center for the Arts in Staten Island, N.Y.

Tickets for the spaghetti dinner can be purchased in advance from any member of the St. C. Singers, and tickets also will be available at the door.
