WSO String Quartet Plays Holiday Tunes Around Town

WHEELING — Wheeling Symphony Orchestra and The Wheeling Symphony Auxiliary announce two events featuring performances from a WSO string quartet.

The concerts will be held on Saturday and are free and open to the public.

The Eighth Note Children and Family Concert sponsored by the WSA and in partnership with the SMART Centre Market will begin at noon at Artworks Around Town in Centre Market in Wheeling.

The event will feature science demos by the SMART Centre Market and fun holiday musical craft led by members from the Auxiliary. The performance from the string quartet starts at 12:45 p.m.

The music continues with a WSO on the GO performance at Oglebay’s Wilson Lodge in Wheeling. The concert will be performed from 3-4 p.m. in Hickman Lounge.

Both performances will feature musicians: Juan Jaramillo (violin), Bohdan Subchak (violin), Louise Farbman (viola) and Elisa Kohanski (cello).

“WSO on the GO and the Eighth Note Children and Family Concert series represent a commitment to bringing music to our community,” said Bryan Braunlich, general manager of the WSO.

“Because it’s the season where friends and family want to gather together, we couldn’t think of a better time to hold a WSO on the GO performance, and what better place to perform than in the beautifully decorated Hickman Lounge at Oglebay Park,” Barunlich said. “We are also so grateful to our friends from the Wheeling Symphony Auxiliary for supporting us and promoting us through these family concerts and events.

“We hope that everyone comes out to listen to some holiday classics that are sure to entertain you and place you in the holiday spirit with lively arrangements played by our incredible string quartet.”

Because of the generous support of our sponsors and donors, including title sponsor McKinley Carter Wealth Services, all WSO on the GO concerts will be free to the public to entice and encourage new audiences to become long-time supporters.
