Jazz at Stifel Welcomes Boilermaker Jazz Band This Saturday Evening
WHEELING — Oglebay Institute continues its tradition of bringing big city jazz shows to Wheeling. Pittsburgh’s Boilermaker Jazz Band will perform in the historic Stifel Mansion at 8 p.m. Saturday.
The Boilermaker Jazz Band interprets the great American songbook in their own unique fashion, bringing the swinging sounds of the jazz age and swing era back to life. Guests will hear familiar classics and rarities performed by superb instrumentalists and heartfelt vocalists.
The Boilermaker Jazz Band has performed at major venues throughout the world for more than 25 years. They have been featured on radio shows across the country and overseas. Recently, the Boilermaker Jazz Band’s music was featured on the hit Fox TV show “So You Think You Can Dance” for a fantastic Lindy Hop routine.
The show is part of OI’s Jazz at the Stifel series, which brings some of the region’s top jazz artists to perform at Oglebay Institute’s Stifel Fine Arts Center on select Saturdays throughout the year.
Crowd-pleasing performers, expert showman and award-winning song stylists entertain crowds in the elegant, yet intimate, splendor of one of Wheeling’s grand properties. The 100-year-old Stifel Fine Arts Center is the former home of one of Wheeling’s most prominent families and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
While enjoying a selection of desserts and wines that are available for purchase at all jazz shows, guests can explore the historic home and also view the art on display in the galleries.
