Festival of Colors: World’s Happiest Event’ Returns to Moundsville Saturday
MOUNDSVILLE — The Festival of Colors, which will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Palace of Gold in Moundsville, aims to create harmony by uniting people of different colors, nationalities, cultures, backgrounds and races in spiritual brotherhood as children of God. Therefore, the festival’s theme is “Culturally Many Spiritually One,” focusing on community building and social cohesion.
Visitors can expect a fun day for the entire family. From throwing colored powder on one another to dancing to the rhythmic beats of a live band, everyone will be fascinated with the line-up of free entertainment and exciting activities.
There will also be mantra meditation, yoga, henna tattoos, nonstop live music by expert musicians, traditional Indian dance, gift shops and stalls, and lots of sumptuous vegetarian food.
Other attractions for participants and visitors include making fall flower hair wreaths from flowers grown in the Palace’s gardens; relaxing in the prize-winning rose garden, which features more than a hundred varieties of roses; and strolling along the two swan lakes and the lotus pond, which boasts more than a thousand lotuses. Everyone is welcome to visit the Krishna temple and the cow barns to pet the cows and calves or stay for the evening milking session. The visit would not be complete without experiencing the Palace of Gold, described by leading networks as “one of the eight wonders of the U.S.” There will be free Palace tours on the festival day.
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness at New Vrindaban and the Palace of Gold community invites everyone for a day that will add color to our lives and society.
A multi-faceted artist known for her vibrant interactive performances, Malini Taneja’s contagious enthusiasm will have us singing, dancing and tossing color with wild abandon.
A colorful trio on their own, the Mayapuris will be filling our ears with their kaleidoscopic beats and dazzling us with their brilliant performances, and there will be much more.
