New Cumberland Riverfest Set This Weekend

NEW CUMBERLAND — The 11th annual New Cumberland Fall Riverfest will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29, featuring 50 vendors and a host of entertainment.

Events will start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday with the Riverfest 5K led by Trisha Enochs with proceeds benefiting the Oak Glen High School’s athletics department.

Opening ceremonies for the Riverfest will begin at 11 a.m. Sept. 28 with a performance by the Oak Glen High School marching band and a color guard from New Cumberland’s Boy Scout troop.

An ongoing Riverfest art show, put on by the Hancock County Arts Council, will display the artistic talents of local artists and students. A car show will run from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Entertainment on Saturday will feature singer and guitar player John Edwards at 11:45 a.m.; Michele’s Dance Studio, 1 p.m.; Sharyn Vinci and the Blues Crew, 2:45 p.m.; nationally-known recording artist Michael Christopher and his acoustic trio, 4:30 p.m.; Easy Street band, 6:15 p.m.; and fireworks, 8:15 p.m.

Activities on Sunday will include a community church service with music by Anchored By Grace, 11 a.m.; Little Miss New Cumberland pageant, 1 p.m.; performance by New Towne Cloggers, 2 p.m., and Dave Morgan at 3 p.m. to close the festival.
