Poetry Series Returning To Lunch With Books Tuesday in Wheeling

George Bilgere

WHEELING — The weekly Lunch With Books program at noon Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Ohio County Public Library in downtown Wheeling will feature George Bilgere as part of the Wheeling Poetry Series.

Bilgere has published six collections of poetry. He has won numerous awards, including the Midland Authors Award and a Pushcart Prize. Bilgere has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Fulbright Commission. His poetry, while residing firmly in the every-day world of janitors, college students or siblings, is noted for its controlled poignancy and limpid free-verse line.

Billy Collins has described him as “a breath of fresh American air.” His poems have appeared in numerous anthologies and journals.

Bilgere teaches creative writing at John Carroll University.

Lunch With Books programs are free and open to the public. Unless otherwise noted, they begin at noon on Tuesdays in the library’s auditorium. Attendees are welcome to bring a bag lunch, and complimentary beverages are provided.

Call the Ohio County Public Library at 304-232-0244 or visit the library’s website at www.ohiocountylibrary.org for more information.
