A Soulful Celebration: Wheeling Symphony Orchestra Presents Valentine’s Day Concert

Gavin Hope

WHEELING — Wheeling Symphony Orchestra’s “Soulful — A Celebration!” concert today, Friday, Feb. 14, will feature guest artists Jeans n’ Classics with vocals by Gavin Hope, and conducted by music director John Devlin. The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre in Wheeling.

Featuring the exceptional voice of Hope, the symphony will bring 50 years of brilliant R&B, Motown, funk, disco and pop material by 20 of the finest African American recording artists and performers from Smokey Robinson to Outkast, Stevie Wonder to Pharrell Williams, and Isaac Hayes to Seal.

Jeans ‘n Classics have previously performed with the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra for a number of Pops concerts, including 2018’s hit “Back to Back: the Music of Billy Joel and Elton John,” “Music of the Eagles,” “Music of Michael Jackson,” “One Vision: the Music of Queen” and the “Music of Abba.” Formed over 20 years ago by Peter Brennan, Jeans ‘n Classics’ approach to combining world class rock musicians and symphonies has been a game changer for orchestras in their quest to attract new and more expansive audiences.

They are a group of musicians who understand orchestra culture and are committed to help in the building of younger, loyal audiences for symphony orchestras across North America.

“The WSO is looking forward to collaboration with ‘soulful’ singer Gavin Hope and Jeans n’ Classics as we provide the best date night in town on everyone’s favorite romantic evening” Devlin said. “Join us at the Capitol as we serenade you with some of your favorite hits from across the decades. You’ll hear chart-toppers from diverse artists from yesterday and today. Bring someone you love to hear music you love– see you there!”
