Lunch With Books Program Will Explores Black Music in America

WHEELING — The Ohio County Public Library, in partnership with YWCA Wheeling, invites you to an afternoon of entertainment, education and great performances during Tuesday’s Lunch With Books program “A History of Black Music in America.”

This unique program will take you on a journey through time, examining the contributions of black artists in American music.

Starting with Negro Spirituals, it will follow the creative road map from jazz to blues, rock and roll to hip-hop and other genres in between.

Hosted by Ron Scott Jr., the program includes musical clips, local historical information and live performances from local artists, to be led by Ezra John Hamilton.

Lunch With Books programs are free and open to the public. Unless otherwise noted, they begin at noon on Tuesdays in the library’s auditorium.

Attendees are welcome to bring a bag lunch, and complimentary beverages are provided.

Call the Ohio County Public Library at 304-232-0244 or visit the library’s website at www.ohiocountylibrary.org for more information.
