MSM Plays Towngate on Saturday

WHEELING — Live music returns to Oglebay Institute’s Towngate Theatre. MSM: Miller, Smith and Mazure will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22.

Having played music together for many years, band members wanted to go back to their roots: acoustic music. Leaving the big amplifiers, drum kit and massive PA system at home, Miller Smith & Mazure have stripped the music down to its purest form.

These guys have been playing in local favorite bands for more than 25 years. Jim Miller was a founding member, lead guitarist and vocalist for Sweet Harmony and Harvest. In addition, Miller was a member of the 11/70 Band. Chad Smith was the drummer for Brad Paisley and Nikki O’Grady. Mike Mazure was the bass player for Crystal Ball, Nikki O’Grady and Steel Casa. Collectively the guys made up 3/4 of The Fabulous Bender Boys, where they spent 10 years together playing all of the fairs and festivals in the tri-state area.

The concert is part of Towngate Theatre’s Second Season and is sponsored by Main Street Bank. Tickets for the show can be purchased at www.oionline.com, at the door or by calling 304-242-7700.

A church-turned-theater and part of the nonprofit Oglebay Institute, Towngate is located in Wheeling’s historic Centre Market District. Towngate is a cornerstone of creative life in Wheeling and serves as an entertainment destination for residents of Wheeling, the Upper Ohio Valley and beyond. People of all ages and backgrounds gather here to create and experience art onstage.

Towngate presents and hosts a full season of community theater, poetry and spoken word performances, children’s theater productions, improvisational comedy and ballet performances. Local and regional musicians perform on the Towngate stage. Towngate is a single screen cinema, too, presenting thought-provoking documentaries, independent and classic films. Towngate is also an art gallery. The theater lobby is home to changing art exhibits. Dozens of live performances, concerts, events and classes take place year-round.
