‘Adventures Of Maid Marian’ Performance Slated Online

Carol Weakland as Maid Marian

MOUNDSVILLE — “The Adventures of Maid Marian” in two acts will showcase the talents of actress, director and writer Carol Weakland in a Moundsville Library Live Virtually program at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, via Zoom or the Moundsville-Marshall County Public Library’s Facebook Page. This special live online theatrical event is free and open to the public.

The legendary outlaw Robin Hood wasn’t alone in having some adventures. Enjoy the drama, romance and magic of Sherwood Forest in this original re-telling of Maid Marian’s own story, spun from English folklore by Weakland into an amazing one-woman performance. Each act is about 30 minutes long, and there will be a 15-minute intermission between the acts. The first act begins at 6 p.m. and the second act will start at about 6:45 p.m.

Weakland’s talent for adapting literature into captivating live performances has kept her audiences coming back for more. The actress and storyteller performs a wide range of one-woman shows based on famous literature such as “Jane Eyre,” “The Scarlet Letter” and the Harry Potter books.

She also has performed in films, such as the award winning Victorian murder mystery “A Murder Party” and the comedic thriller “Overdue,” as well as working in commercials and traditional theater. Weakland is the founder of Great Expectations Theatrical Productions, based in Youngstown. She is the author of the Morgen of Avalon series, Land of the Twilight Mist and “The Arthurian Trilogy.”
