Lunch With Books Offering A Local Tale of True Crime

WHEELING — The sinister underbelly of Wheeling’s past resurfaces at noon on Tuesday when the Ohio County Public Library presents the next Lunch With Books program “The Madam Must Die” featuring guest speakers Tim Botos and Shane Hoover.

The program will be livestreamed beginning at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

Botos and Hoover, reporters at the Canton (Ohio) Repository, will discuss their five-part print and video series about how Carla Dellerba, a madam from Wheeling, was murdered in Canton.

“On orders from the Wheeling, W.Va. mob, two men murdered a woman in Canton in 1974,” the writers explain. “It took 16 years for the truth to come out.”

One of the sources used in the production of the five-part series was the Ohio County Public Library Archives.
